Lance O. Valdez, devoted husband and father of 3, and wonderful and caring son, was involved in a tragic accident on November 22, 2012, in the Bahamas. He succumbed to his injuries sustained during the accident and did not survive. Born and raised in Texas, he had a successful legal and business career in New York and London, and moved to the Bahamas with his wife and family. He was a resident of the Bahamas, and a Mexican citizen.
He is preceded in death by his father, Frank M. Valdez, Architect. He is survived by his wife Dasha, his two daughters Sasha (8) and Natalya (6), and his son Lance Jr. (1.5), his Mother, Magdalena Valdez, two brothers, Frank and Omar and his sister Janina Solomon.
Although he had dual Mexican and U.S. citizenship, Lance was raised in San Antonio, Texas and went to Mount Sacred Heart Academy, Cambridge Elementary, and Alamo Heights High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Southern Methodist University, a Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from Washington & Lee University Law School, where he was an Executive Editor of the Washington & Lee Law Review, and a Masters of Laws Degree (LLM) in Tax Law from New York University
From an early age, Lance was a skilled and accomplished tennis player. Keeping with his Texas roots, Lance was an avid outdoorsman, and had a passion for hunting, deep-sea fishing, snow skiing, and water sports. Lance also had a passion for travel, and traveled the world with his wife, mother and father. More importantly he was a dedicated family man that cherished his wife and children above all. He will be greatly missed by his family and fiends.
Lance welcomed, lived and enjoyed every day of his life to the fullest and with an amazing zest and passion.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Church Hall, Lyford Cay, Bahamas, and a reception to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Old Fort Bay.
