Larry Martin

Larry J. Martin passed away on November 20, 2012 at age 73 in San Antonio, Texas after a three year battle with Leukemia. He was born in Pullman, Washington on December 9, 1938 to Herbert E. and Gladys A. Martin. He attended Pullman High School, graduating in 1956. In 1961 he graduated with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University (WSU).

He earned a commission in the Army through the ROTC program at WSU. His next 20 years were spent on active duty, including two tours in Viet Nam, Larry retired as a LTC, Corps of Engineers, in 1981 in San Antonio.

He entered a second career in the field of Life Insurance and Investments which was successful for 28 years. During that time he was active in the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME), the Northwest Rotary Club of San Antonio, and San Pedro Presbyterian Church.

Larry married Karen E. Ewing in December, 1965. They have two sons, Gerald A. Martin, Petty Officer, U.S. Coast Guard, Galveston, Texas, and Terry R. Martin, Crime Scene Analyst Supervisor, (CSI), Las Vegas, Nevada.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 27 at 2 p.m. at San Pedro Presbyterian Church, 14900 San Pedro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northwest Rotary Foundation, P.O. Box 790241, San Antonio, Texas, 78279-0241.
