Leo "Red" Ergish

Leo "Red" Ergish was born to Clara and Leo A. Ergish in Chicago on June 2, 1924. A good Christian gentleman, he raised his family with a passion beyond compare. He led a life as an exemplary positive role model and was a true patriarch who will be deeply missed. His ingenuity and inventiveness led to many hobbies. He enjoyed travel, repairing automobiles, and later in life became interested in carving. During his thirty year military career, he was a WWII, Korean War, & Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the US Air Force in 1973.

After a brave fight with cancer, he peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 17th surrounded by family. He will be laid to rest in the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Leo was preceded in death by Elaine, his wife of 52 years. He is survived by his current wife, Janye Ergish; Children: Kathleen Fryske, Karen Harris (John David), Gary Ergish (Terry), Susan Burkholder, and Amie Lay (Mitch); thirteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

A military graveside service will be held at 9:45am on Friday, August 23rd at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
