Leroy Schneider

Leroy Schneider was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was a lifelong resident of Wilson County, and entered eternal rest Friday, September 20, 2013, at the age of 82. Leroy proudly served his country during the Korean War and was a lifelong educator, teacher, coach, and driving instructor with the Poth ISD for 34 years, retiring in 1989. After retiring, Leroy served as Justice of the Peace and loved managing his farm and cattle. Leroy served 2 terms as Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council #2618 in Poth, member of the Poth VFW #8555, and was an active member of Blessed Sacrament Church, serving many years as lector and usher. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, John and Hattie (Real) Schneider; and his sister and brother-in-law, Ruby and Alvin Matheaus. Leroy is survived by his wife of 56 years, Julia (Dzuik) Schneider of Poth; children, Diana Reyne Griffin (Frank) of Canyon, TX, Jeanette Marie Masso (Sammy) of Ovilla, TX, Roger Wayne Schneider (Rebecca) of San Antonio, TX, and Anthony "Tony" John Schneider (Sharon) of Buda, TX; grandchildren, Sarah Petronio (Daniel), John Griffin, Mark Griffin, Benjamin Masso, Jacob Masso, Audrey Schneider, Jonathon Schneider, Luke Schneider, Ryan Schneider; and great granddaughter, Avery Griffin. Visitation will be held from 4 - 6 P.M., Monday, September 23, 2013, at Vinyard Funeral Home, Poth. Viewing and rosary will follow the daily 6:30 P.M. Church Mass at 7:00 P.M. Monday, September 23, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Poth. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Poth, followed by interment at Blessed Sacrament Cemetery, Poth, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blessed Sacrament Church, Poth, or the Knights of Columbus Council #2618, Poth, Texas.
