Linda Koehler

Linda Patricia Gregory Koehler of Macdona, Texas, born January 8, 1948, in Washington, D.C., passed away on May 15, 2014, at the age of 66. She was predeceased by her father, Walter L. Gregory, Sr., step-mother, Daisy Merle Gregory, her mother, Norah Nancy Barker, and a much loved uncle, James Naylor. She is survived by her beloved husband of 44 years Frank Louis Koehler. Other survivors include: Brothers: James Walter Parks of Arkansas, Walter L. (Kathy) Gregory, Jr., Arthur H. (Julie) Gregory, and Cecil D. (Debbie) Gregory, all of Oklahoma City. Sisters: Nancy Lee (Earl) Burke of Cordova, South Carolina, Josephine Helen Turner of San Antonio, Ruth Ann (Rudy) Espinosa of Ranger, Texas, Dovie R. (Don) McLerran of Oklahoma City, Kathy Nancy (Alan) Thomas of LaCoste, Texas, Pamela (Trey) Tulloch of Houston, Texas , and the light of her life - her "granddaughter" Samantha Bobbi Flores. She is also survived by her godson Jason Duncan and goddaughters Pamela Ripps, Florence Koehler, Sherry Jagge and Samantha Bobbi Flores and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Arthur Gregory, Bonnie Nell Mangold, Beth Ann Cook, Rollin Mangold, Matthew Mangold, Wayne Yancey, and Travis Corn. Linda was a school teacher and taught for Northside Independent School District at Valley-Hi Elementary, Ed Cody Elementary, Shirley Howsman Elementary, and Dr. Joe Ward Elementary. She received her degrees at the University of Texas at San Antonio and Our Lady of the Lake University. She was named Teacher of the Year for Cody Elementary and Elementary Teacher of the Year for Northside Independent School District. She received the Texas Presidential Award for Excellence in Science and Math Teaching, the Texas Medical Association Award of Merit for Science Teaching, Texas Association of Science Teachers Teacher of the Year and Mayoral and County Judge Innovative Mathematics and Science Teaching Award. Linda was a Past President and Woman of the Year for Keynote Chapter American Business Women's Association. She was Past President of St. Elizabeth Altar Society and Past Director of Religious Education at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Church in Macdona, Texas . She was a member of St. Ann's Altar Society at St. Louis Catholic Church in Castroville. She was Past President of Castroville Quilters and Stitchers. She was also a former Director of Medina County Fair Association. Linda loved to hunt, fish, crochet, quilt and go to Las Vegas. She loved people and especially loved teaching and she always said that "every year she got twenty-two new babies to love and teach." In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Gifted and Talented Grants at the Northside Educational Foundation, 5900 Evers Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 or Our Lady of Grace Religious Education Program, in LaCoste, Texas. Visitation will be Sunday, May 18, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home with the Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Mass of Resurrection will be Monday, May 19, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church. Interment will follow the Mass at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery. visit www.tondre-guinn.com
