Marcus Maldonado

Marcus Valdez Maldonado, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in San Antonio. He was born June 18, 1943 in Pearsall, Texas. Mark served proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a Vietnam combat veteran. He worked at Lockheed Missiles and Space Corp. in Sunnyvale, CA; Square D Corp., Los Angeles, CA and retired from Kelly AFB, San Antonio, TX. Mark enjoyed hunting, fishing and trying out many Cooking Channel recipes on his outdoor grill. He also was a big fan of patriotic action movies. Mark was a member of the Templo El Olivar, Pearsall, TX, and was preceded in death by his father, Estanislado Maldonado; sister, Leticia Florinda; four brothers, David, Eleazar, Samuel, Jose Tomas and his father-in-law, Raul Cantu.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Irene; daughters, Veronica; Monica Dabbs (David); Jada and son Marcus, II (Jennifer); grandchildren Beau Dugas; Cody Dabbs and Victoria, Viviana and Layla Maldonado and mother-in-law, Eduvijes Cantu.

He is also survived by his mother, Mrs. Margarita Maldonado of Pearsall, Texas; sisters, Severa Hill (Vernon), Evangelina, and Florinda Reyes (Oscar); brothers, Rudy (Irma), Guillermo (Norma), Pedro, Juan, Javier, Jesus, Efrain (Jeannette); numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside Burial Services with full military honors will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas, on January 9, 2013; 10:45 a.m. A Celebration of Life Reception will follow.
