Marvin Miller passed away on Monday, September 2nd. He celebrated his 82nd birthday on August 11, 2013. Marvin graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, The University of Texas
at Austin, and after serving in Korea, he attended St. Mary's Law School and graduated summa cum laude. He recently received an award for being a 50-year graduate of the school.
He was born to Louis and Rose Miller of blessed memory. Until his death, he practiced law with his partner, son, and best friend, Richard Miller. He was highly respected by his peers.
Marvin was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 48 years, Clara Miller. He leaves behind his children Richard and Karen Miller of San Antonio, Janet and Larry Snider of Potomac, Maryland, and Shirley and Jim Lavine of Houston, Texas. He also leaves his grandchildren of whom he was incredibly proud: Bryan and his wife Marta Miller and Elise Miller, Lisa and Gabe Snider, and Josh, Ali and Jesse Lavine. He was thrilled about the impending birth of his first great grandbaby. He leaves behind his siblings Doris and Jim Toubin, Dr. Al and Marge Miller, and Dr. Sam and Dottie Miller. He also leaves behind his beloved long time companion, Pearl Gossen. Many loving nieces and nephews will also miss him and remember him dearly.
Marvin was a caring landlord who took great pains to provide for his tenants/managers/workers. Marvin was also incredibly devoted to his family. He never missed the births of his grandchildren, their performances, or graduations. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather "Poppy", brother, friend and companion. He loved going to the symphony and listening to jazz, dancing, and being with family. He loved recounting stories of his long career and telling jokes. Marvin would also want to be remembered as a devoted Democrat.
