COL Maurice Guthrie Miller (Ret.), age 95, was born in El Paso, TX to GEN Maurice L. and Nola Miller. He was a 1941 graduate of West Point. He proudly served in the U.S. Army
from 1941 until his retirement in San Antonio as Commander of the Quadrangle at Fort Sam Houston in 1971. He was part of GEN Douglas MacArthur's staff in WWII
. COL Miller was also a veteran
of the Korean Conflict
and Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous decorations including the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. After his retirement, Bucky, as he was known to those close to him, never rested on his laurels. He continued to grow in knowledge of many things including learning electronics and building many things. He built an organ and taught himself to play. He also earned his pilot's license and enjoyed flying to many destinations including his West Point reunions. COL Miller was preceded in death by his wife, Isabel, in 2008. He is survived by his sisters, Betty Barrett and Barbara Macdonald; children, Patricia Walters (Ralph), Andy Miller (Lorraine), Diana Webb (Rick), Gary Miller (Carla), and Kim Jacob. He was the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
