Mike Aguirre passed away at the age of 94 on Jan. 2, 2014 after suffering a massive stroke on Dec. 9th, 2013. He was born in San Antonio on November 19, 1919. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio and went into the National Guard with the 36th Infantry Division and later served in southeast Asia during WW II with the US Army
Air Corp 9th Recon Squadron working alongside the famed "Flying Tigers". He continued his service to his country after the war by serving in the Merchant Marines and then the US Air Force
until his retirement in 1963 when he joined the San Marcos Post Office. He was a letter carrier and active Letter Carrier Union representative until his retirement in 1984. Before and after his retirement he was active in his Lutheran church and various volunteer organizations. He was very proud of his membership and leadership roles at the San Marcos VFW

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dora, and survived by his loving wife Ingeborg, a sister Helen, a daughter Dolores McAllister and husband Jack, two sons, David Aguirre and his wife Martha and Michael Aguirre and his wife Kathy. Also survived by four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday Jan. 11th at 2 pm at Grace Lutheran Church in San Marcos.
