Robert Chaffin

CHAFFIN
Robert Vaughn Chaffin was born March 30, 1922 in Lorena, TX, lived most of his life in San Antonio and passed March 25, 2013. Bob was a WW II US Navy Veteran and was injured while working as an aircraft mechanic onboard the USS Essex when a Japanese kamikaze plane crashed into the deck above him. He survived and was awarded the Purple Heart. He continued his career in Civil Service, retiring as a US Defense Contract Administrator. After retirement, he started a security alarm installation company, one of the first in San Antonio. The past 25 years Bob spent his life collecting and selling at flea markets. He was preceded in death by wife, Evelyn Joyce Chaffin. Bob is loved and will be greatly missed by daughter, Melinda Copeland and her partner, Phil Palmer; son, Michael Chaffin; grandchildren, Carrie Copeland, Michael Chaffin and Ashley Chaffin; and four great-grandchildren.
