Sybil Schmidt

Sybil Ann Schmidt passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 in San Antonio, TX. She was born in Ocheyedan, Iowa and raised in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa and received a B.A. from San Francisco College for Women. She has lived in numerous cities in the U.S. and overseas, accompanying her husband on his military assignments. After his retirement, they lived in Tulsa, Ok. She was active with The Red Cross, the Salvation Army Auxiliary, the Opera Guild, and the Assistance League of Tulsa. In San Antonio, she was a founding member of the Assistance League of San Antonio, a past President of the Live Oak Garden Club, a member of the San Antonio Symphony League, the S.W. Foundation Forum, and the San Antonio Bar Auxiliary. She is survived by her daughter, Shelly, son in law, Rolland Bates, and her faithful dog, Angel, who was a great comfort to her. The family extends their gratitude to Pura Lopez, who was a great friend and companion to Sybil along with Great Thanks to those who cared for her in the last days of her life. Their kindness was overwhelming.
