Victoria Garza

Victoria Ortiz Garza fell asleep in the Lord on June 14, 2013. She was born on February 14, 1921 in Uvalde, TX to Arturo and Cruz Ortiz. She graduated from Uvalde high school in 1941 and attended Howard Payne University for two years where she met her future husband, Eulogio L. Garza. After marrying, they transferred to Hardin Simmons University where they graduated in 1945. Together they ministered to Hispanic Baptists in South and Central Texas, moving to San Antonio in 1949. She became an elementary school teacher in the Harlandale ISD until her retirement in 1985. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Rev. E. L. Garza and her son, Eulogio (Lloyd) Garza Jr. She is survived by her sons Roger Hiram Garza, Jonathan Garza, her daughter, Elizabeth Burnett, granddaughter, Ruth Eleutheria, grandson, Douglas Burnett Jr., her brother Arturo Ortiz, and sisters Grace Sanchez and Vera Yglesias. The family wishes to express special thanks to the following: the staff and students of the Aveda Institute, the pharmacy staff of the Oblate HEB, Mary Chavez and the staff of the Fresenius Broadway Medical Center, Kimberly, Isabel, Caroline, and the staff of Caring Companions and the staff of VITAS Hospice.

Visitation will be Tuesday morning, June 18, 2013 from 10:00 - 11:00 at Mission Park South with service to immediately follow. Burial will be at San Fernando III.
