Viva Belknap

Viva Jean Belknap, age 80, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at her home in New Braunfels. She was born to Claude A. Smith and Anna Blanch Jenkins Smith on November 2, 1932 in Dallas, Texas. She married the love of her life, Lee N. Belknap in February 28, 1954 and they settled in San Antonio. Lee and Jean Lived for fifty years at Lake Placid Estates in Seguin, raising their daughters and building a moving and storage business as well as a construction business in San Antonio. Jean was a charter member of the Seguin Chapter of the American Business Women's Association, served as an officer in various capacities of the Seguin Elks Lodge and was a member of the Shrine Auxiliary of Alzafar Temple. She was known for her love of cooking, playing piano and organ for various functions and was a lifelong Republican.
Jean is survived by her daughters, LaRae Curry and husband Don of Springfield, VA; Cindy Wadsworth and husband Doug of Devine, TX; Bambi Belknap of New Braunfels; Robin Smith of Ft. Worth, along with her brother Don W. Smith and his wife Mary Ann of San Antonio. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Lee Amick and Anna Wadsworth of Ft. Worth; Jessica Brun and husband Andrew of Independence, KY; Jason Streety and wife Kristin of Erlanger, KY; Ellyse Streety of New Braunfels; Lily and Nikolas Smith of Ft. Worth; and her special friend James P. Bell of San Antonio.
A memorial and celebration of life service will be held on July 25th at 11 am at Goetz Funeral Home in Seguin, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Home of Family Warmth in Seguin, Operation Smile, or the Wounded Warriors Program.
