William Deal

DEAL
William C. (Bill) Deal went to be with our Lord on May 18, 2013, at the age of 79 after his battle with Alzheimer's. He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Vilma D. Deal, loving son, Robert Deal and his wife Jennifer Deal, caring and loving daughter Sherry Deal McCallum and husband John McCallum and two treasured grandchildren, Andrew Deal Mature and Braydon Deal. Bill was born and grew up in Statesville, North Carolina where he graduated from Celeste Hinkle High School in 1952. He entered the U.S. Air Force in September 1952 and served our country honorably for 27 Years upon his retirement in November of 1979. During his career in the Air Force, Bill served several tours of duty overseas to include Pakistan, Turkey and England. It was at his tour in Chicksands England that Bill met and married Vilma McReynolds in Clifton, England in 1956. Bill had a long and decorated military service. He was recognized and received the Strategic Air Command Educational Achievement Award, Security Service Outstanding Airman of the Year, Outstanding Senior Non Commissioned Officer of the Year, USAFE Educational Achievement Award, USAFE Conspicuous Educational Achievement Award, USAFE Distinguished Educational Achievement award and a three time recipient of the Freedom Foundation George Washington Medal of Honor. Bill graduated with honors from the University of Nebraska in 1971 with a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Military Science and graduated with honors from the University of Arkansas in 1974 with a Master's Degree in Business Management. In 1978, Bill passed the Texas Realtors Examination to earn his Texas Realtor Brokers License and immediately opened and managed Bill Deal Realty. During this same time period, Bill was elected to and served on the Board of Directors for Security Service Credit Union. Bill went on to serve in a number of capacities with Security Service Credit Union to include, Board Member, Committee Chairman, Vice President and Chairman of the Board. Later, Bill went on to serve on numerous committees with the San Antonio Board of Realtors and was President of the San Antonio Board of Realtors Credit Union. Bill and Vilma moved to Helotes, Texas in 1992 where Bill would later run for Alderman and was elected to the Helotes City Council. Bill was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and was a 32nd degree Shriner. In retirement, Bill and Vilma enjoyed time with lifelong friends, treasured family time, visits to family in England and North Carolina and most importantly, the time spent with the grandchildren. Bill was widely known for his intelligence, integrity, dedication to do what is right, his ability to make people laugh, and his love of family.

SERVICES

A visitation will be held from 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. A chapel service will be held at 9:30 AM on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North with interment to follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
