Willis H. Ball

Willis H. (Bill) Ball, age 93, departed this life on May 20, 2013 from complications of old age. He was born February 13, 1920 in Chickasha, Oklahoma. His parents, Willis H. Ball, Sr. and Inez Bernard Ball, and a younger sister, Lenna Ellen Grant, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Dazel Davis Ball; three sons, Bill Ball and wife Janel, Wayne Ball, and Howard Ball and wife Monica; a daughter, Lynn Rutland and husband Randy; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Bill took pride in doing his best in whatever circumstances he faced. He deeply loved his wife and children, and made taking care of them a priority.

He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps before the attack on Pearl Harbor and served in the US Navy during WWII. Afterwards, he farmed and ranched at Marlow, Oklahoma, and later worked in the dairy and agribusiness industries. He is a long-time member of the Church of Christ, and widely known for his smoked brisket and dutch oven dishes.

A private family service is scheduled Monday, May 27, 2013 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in his name to the Shenandoah Church of Christ, 11026 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, TX 78230 or to the Pikes Peak Church of Christ building fund, 1402 West Pikes Peak Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904, or to the .
