WILLIAMS
James Frederick Williams AIA Emeritus, passed away the 7th of April, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in 1942 in St. Louis, Missouri to Nita Jim Chewning Williams and Frederick Earl Williams of Ashdown, Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Robin Black, sister-in-law Jenny Barker, brother-in-law Malcolm Nettles and cousins. Fred was a true gentleman, good friend, good husband, and gifted architect. Fred graduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a Bachelor of Architecture Degree in 1966. After working with an architectural Firm in Austin, Fred joined the firm of Ford, Powell, and Carson Architects in 1968 and was with them for twenty years. He was made a principal in 1980. His projects included building on the campuses of Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, New York, Schreiner College in Kerrville and Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, Texas. His role was in either project management or design of buildings. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the Physicians who were so instrumental in prolonging his life. The surgeons: Richard K. Newman and Chris Peterson: and the oncologists Lisa Fichtel, and Dr. Kyriakos Papadopoulos of the START Center.
