Orville was a great person with a heart of Gold, I began styling his hair in 1979 and I will miss him dearly. I´m sad because I didn´t get to say Goodbye, you were not in the best of health the last time I saw you, you never told me anything, I was devastated when you missed your hair appointment with me and then I found out that same day that the Lord reached his hand out to you and took you to his beautiful Garden in Heaven, An Angel with beautiful white wings, You certainly earned them, Thank you for everything you did for me, You will be in my heart forever, I cried many tears for you hoping that you could have lived forever, I miss you. Your friend Lillian, until we meet again

Orville was an inspiration and an icon to the San Antonio design community. It was my priviledge to serve his firm with CAD drafting services for several residential projects and the renovation of their offices at 8015 Broadway. He was always generous and kind to me. His work represented the epitome of quality, with a bit of a gilt edge. Bless you, dear Orville.

The world is less one great man.... You were an inspiration to all you knew..... You and Charles taught me so much about classical design and respecting the past.... You were kind and gentle and lived a long and beautiful life... You will be missed more than you know... you will forever be immortalized in your field and those hearts of those you touched. One could only dream and hope to aspire to the life you led. I will miss you immensely. My Mother and I are beyond appreciative of everything you have done for us...

Unlike many, many others who knew Orville professionally, I knew him first and foremost as a friend. He and his, and I and mine, simply enjoyed being together - aware of one another's respective professional statures and achievements, but they served as the backdrop, not the focus, of our times spent together. As a host or as a guest, Orville was always the genteel gentleman, elegant even when being risque, caring, interested and inquisitive. And, above all else, sincere. I will forever miss his unique brand of friendship that was so indicative of all his qualities as a very special, and a most appreciated, human being.

Orville was a perfect gentleman, impeccable in dress and demeanor. What a classic designer, creating timeless inteiors, a mentor to all designers not only those of us in ASID, but to students of interior design as well. As we go about creating beauty and order in our profession of interior design we will remember the sterling example of good design that was Orville's hallmark. He will be missed greatly by the design community.

I spent many hours in Orville Carr's store on N. Main Avenue in the mid to late 60's as my mother worked for him. I still own 2 lamps that he designed for me, one for my 16th birthday and the other for my wedding. I will always cherish them and the many great memories of wandering thru the store daydreaming of someday having a home filled with his designs. RIP dear sir.

I was lucky to grow up in a house decorated by Orville Carr. It reflected my parents' traditional taste and Orville's style and flair. It was elegant but comfortable, and perfectly imperfect. And most of all, memorable. And so was he. A gentleman and a friend, may he rest in peace.

Orville Carr was one of the most amazing, talented, and elegent human beings I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. In fact, Orville knew four generations of my family and was always gracious, kind, and a true gentleman from beginning to end. His talent and expertise was known far and wide. He was especially close to my mother, who loved him dearly, as did I.

Orville Carr as a much appreciated leader in the design community will be missed by many. His loyal support of interior design over the yers made Orville a much looked to member of AID and then ASID. He brought with him his many talents and great friendship to the city. I salute him on his great career and as many others fondly remember Orville always, as the great fellow that he was. Ron Walsh
