Arthur Muraida Obituary

February 18, 2016
Arthur Navarro Muraida entered God's loving arms February 18, 2016. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 14, 1954 to Anastacia Weaver Navarro & the late Paul H. Muraida. Where does one start to tell about the life of someone so loving, caring and giving of others? Always looking out for the underdog, Art participated in dozens of fund-raising and in-kind projects from March of Dimes to Handicap Rights to City Council public initiatives and everywhere in between. After serious illnesses as a youth threatened to end his life, he fought out of a month long coma, regained his motor skills and learned how to walk again.

After graduating from Holy Cross High School he went on to receive a Bachelors and then Masters Degree in Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University. He was the one who would not hesitate to help the elderly resident without electricity, the immigrant struggling to receive her long deserved citizenship, the handicapped individual fighting for a paved sidewalk to reach their home. His constant love for others and hilarious sense of humor will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his loving mother Anastacia Navarro Muraida; sister Diane M. Garcia; brothers Dennis Paul Muraida and Robert Anthony Muraida; nephews and nieces Brandon & Laurel Garcia, Ryan & Jessica Garcia, great-nephew Jayden Paul Garcia, Uncle Dan H. Muraida, Aunt Rosa Navarro, girlfriend Rose Gonzalez and devoted helper and friend Rosa Lopez. Numerous cousins and dozens of friends.

Dearest Arthur, I miss you still and think of you often. I am posting this because of the memory email sent by Legacy. What an impact you made on so many lives and hearts. I am thankful that God thought enough of me to have us cross paths that day, my precious friend. How I cried when you passed, but I know you are not gone forever, and we will meet again in Heaven. Arthur has been my precious (even best) friend for 25 years. We met at Kroger's while I was coupon shopping, and I gave him some coupons to get about 25 packages of 9 cent paper towels (he was buying some already) to donate. His mother would buy her favorite Mary Kay eyeliner from me when I became a consultant. He has been there as a friend and counselor. What a patient and selfless help he was. He did so much for so many. I wanted to give back and help him help more people when I could, and I felt that time was finally coming. God apparently decided Arthur's work was finished, though, and called him home to rest. He surely stored up much treasure in Heaven. I was graced by God to have a good conversation with him the night before he passed. I will treasure his memory always, and I look forward to seeing him again one day in Heaven. I know he will be sorely missed by many. God's blessings to his family.

I met Arthur about 8 years ago and was text messaging back and forth with him on the day he passed on. Of course, his text was regarding arranging help for someone else. Typical Arthur...always helping someone else. I was so honored to call him my friend and I will miss him dearly. May the pain of your loss be lessened by all of the "Arthur stories" of kindness you will be hearing in memory of such a beautiful person.
