A. L. " Red" Daily was born August 19, 1922, to Jessie and John Daily in Anna, Texas. He died January 19, 2013, at the age of 90.
In 1942 he married Jo Imogene Moore at the South Alamo Methodist Church.
Red joined the Second Indianhead Division in October, 1940, at Ft. Sam Houston and fought from Omaha Besch on DDay+1 and the Battle of the Bulge to Pilsen, Czechoslovakia. He earned the Rifleman's Badge and 5 Bronze Stars. He returned to San Antonio in 1945 where he was employed at Ft. Sam Houston until transferring to Kelly AFB in 1950 as an air material management specialist for SAC until his retirement in 1976. His last project was with the F16 by General Dynamics. Because of this he and his wife were invited to be special guests at the "roll-out" in Fort Worth.
He, with his wife, owned and operated AUTOS DELIVERED, a company delivering autos from dealers in Texas to Florida, and New York and all states in between. He enjoyed fishing at Rockport for red fish. He was a life member of Second Indianhead Division, VFW Post 8541, DAV Joseph Early, SA Chapter 14, Inc. and Zion Lutheran Church until its closing.
He was preceded in death by his daughter , Charlotee Ann Savage and his brother, Orvin Daily
He is survived by his wife Jo Imogene Daily, grandson John Hamilton Savage IV of San Antonio, brother Wallace Daily and family of Arlington, Texas, and nieces Novena Daily Alexander of Oklahoma City and Sue Speck Barse of San Antonio and Ruidoso, New Mexico.
Arrangements are by Funeral Caring USA. A service will be held at Fort Sam Houston on February 7, at 2:15pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity if your choice.
