Bill Ashworth, 54, a resident of Seguin, Texas, went home to be with the Lord on May 22, 2011. Bill was born on August 18, 1956 in Kinsley, KS. He grew up in Ponca City, Oklahoma. In his youth, Bill loved playing football and baseball. He played tight end for the Ponca City Wildcats on their state championship team. After high school, Bill joined the United States Air Force and was trained as a pmel electronics technician. Bill moved to Texas in 1980, and was a proud Texan. He stated many times that "He may not have been born in Texas but he got here as soon as he could." Bill met and married DeAnna Ashworth in 1983 and they have been happily married for 28 years. In 1999, at the age of 43, he returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Quality and Engineering with Kennedy Western. Bill was promoted to the position of Director of Quality with Standard Aero in 2006 and was considered by many to be the expert in Quality control. Over the years, Bill enjoyed coaching many little league baseball and softball teams for his children. He never missed a baseball, football, softball, volleyball game, school function or graduation for his children because he believed being there for those events to be extremely important. Bill enjoyed woodworking, sports, fishing, working on his ranch, fixing and building things. He also adored OU (University of Oklahoma) football. Bill is survived by his wife, DeAnna Ashworth, his daughter and son, Andrea and Brandon Ashworth; sister, Donna Ashworth; uncle and aunt, Mac and Nancy McDaniel; brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and April LaPatra; nephews, Nathan Tennison-Green LaPatra , Noah LaPatra and niece, Tonya Henderson. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Ruby Ashworth, mother and father-in-law, Sandra Zamzow Bedell and Wilbur Turner and Bill's nephew and niece, Tony and Deann Taglialatela. Services will be held at The Country Church at 1005 West FM 78, Marion, Texas 78124 on Saturday, May 28, 2011 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Butch Ikles officiating.
