SCHWERDTFEGER
David Allan Schwerdtfeger, age 74 of Seguin, Texas has gone to be with Jesus and sing with the Angels after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. David was born on August 13, 1938 in Seguin, Texas, to Norman Alvin and Nettie Oma Schwerdtfeger. He graduated from Seguin High School in 1956 and Texas Lutheran University in 1960 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting. David earned his certification as a Certified Public Accountant in 1963 and spent 25 years at the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in San Antonio where he achieved the position of Vice President of Finance. He spent the last 15 years of his 40 year professional career working for Groves Alexander in San Antonio. David was an active member of the American Institute of CPAs, the Texas Society of CPAs, Alpha Chi National Honor Society, Toastmasters International, and The Rotary Club of Seguin. David held a special place in his heart for First United Methodist Church where he was a lifelong member and where he married Dolores Jo Carter, 49 years ago. He held numerous committee leadership positions, sang in the choir, was a member of the Sharer's Sunday School Class and Methodist Men. David was a quiet man who loved to sing, jog, work in the yard, go to the beach and most of all play with his grandchildren and his devoted King Charles Spaniel, Casey Joy. David is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Dolores Carter Schwerdtfeger, his son Jeff Schwerdtfeger and his wife Kathie, his daughter Karen McReynolds and her husband John; his grandchildren Frances Krienitz and her husband Dean, Cameron McReynolds, Eric Schwerdtfeger, Matthew Schwerdtfeger, Laura Anne McReynolds, Andrew Schwerdtfeger, Eleanor McReynolds, J.D. McReynolds, and Sarah McReynolds; his sister Sandi Seidel and her husband Leland; his sister-in-law Nancy Carter, his niece Laura Johnson, his brother-in-law Larry Cunningham and numerous other nieces and nephews. David also leaves behind his special friends, Keith and Nelwyn Robinson and their daughter Jillian. David is predeceased by his parents Nettie and Norman Schwerdtfeger and his sister Norma Cunningham. A memorial service to honor David's life will be held on Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Seguin, Texas with Rev. Ron Welborn and Rev. Patricia Jentsch officiating. A reception will follow in the Christian Life Center. Private interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to sincerely thank David's caregivers at New Braunfels AlzCare and Hope Hospice as well as everyone who has prayed for and visited David.
