ELOY T. ORTEGA

On October 1, 2012, Eloy T. Ortega, age 65, entered into eternal rest and was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. After graduation from Fox Tech High School, he joined the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam, 1966-67, with the 196th Infantry Division and awarded the Combat Infantry Badge and numerous other medals. Mr. Ortega retired from Civil Service at Kelly AFB, TX, and also retired from the Texas National Guard. He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents. He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 36 years, Sylvia Puga Ortega; his children, Eloy Ortega, Jr. and Linda Ortega (Juan Valdez); granddaughters, Alyssa Renae and Hannah Rane Valverde and Mercedes L. Valdez; mother, Olivia Ortega; father, Alfredo B. Ortega (Maria); sister, Elia Carmona; niece Olivia Ann Campos (Tommy); special niece, Alexandria Puga; and numerous relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012, with a Rosary to be recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral Procession departs at 12 Noon on Friday, October 5, 2012, for a 12:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. John Berchman's Catholic Church, 1147 Cupples Road. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery II. The Ortega Family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Audie Murphy Veterans Hospital and Community Living Center, San Antonio, Texas. Services under the direction of Castillo Mission Funeral Home.
