Forrest Raymond Paine, born in Marshfield Oregon July 22, 1927 to Perry Ernest and Ona Jones Paine, entered eternal life March 24, 2013 at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Ernest, Orval, and Perry. Forrest was a proud veteran having served his country for over 30 years. He began his service during WWII in the US Navy stationed in Tinian, NAS Alameda, and then aboard the USS Chourre. He continued his military career in the US Air Force serving in Korea and Vietnam. He was intrigued by computers so he focused his training and became a programmer and systems analyst. Forrest loved to fly. While stationed in Hawaii he took flying lessons and made his solo flight over the beautiful Pacific Ocean.
Returning to the mainland he was stationed at Randolph AFB where he would work until he retired in 1973. After retirement he worked as a programmer for Frost Bank until he surrendered to the call of the catfish and, to support his bait habit, he started a small business assembling bicycles for local department stores. His entrepreneurship once again took over and he opened the Schertz Bike Shop on Main Street in Schertz, Texas where he worked until he retired.again.
Forrest is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Evelyn, sons Larry and wife Kelli, Raymond and wife Della, daughters Evelyn Delgado and husband Rudy, Danna Kurzmann and husband Kurtis, Jeanette Paine, Callie Trevino and husband Pete, 10 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren, several generations of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many good friends.
Graveside services will be held at 2PM on Tuesday April 9, 2013 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.woundedwarriorproject.org) or the .
