Frances Weaver Cuthrell Blackwell, 79, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2013 in Sandpoint, Idaho. Burial will be at the Greenhill Cemetery in Waynesville, North Carolina at 3:00pm on Saturday, May 25, 2013.
Frances was born on June 29, 1933 in Asheville, NC to Walter Credle Cuthrell and Frances (Weaver) Cuthrell. She grew up and attended schools in Asheville. As a child and teenager she loved visiting Montreat and Lake Junaluska, NC. She attended a North Carolina women's college, and married R.H. Blackwell III on August 13, 1952 at the Presbyterian Church in Asheville, NC.
During her life time she lived in North Carolina, Kansas, New York, Massachusetts, Texas, Sweden, and Idaho. She was a faithful mother and housewife. She served time as the secretary of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in San Antonio, TX. She closely followed the San Antonio Spurs basketball team. Is a member of Stewartsville Baptist Church in Laurinburg, NC, and attended First Baptist Church while in Sandpoint, ID.
Frances loved many things including; worshiping the Lord together with her family, sending cards of encouragement, traveling, seeing giraffes in the wilds of Kenya (called "Twigas"), Texas Beef BBQ, birds, Canadian geese, nature, and was very familiar with plant names.
She is survived by her two daughters Valerie Blackwell-Luce and her husband Dennis Luce of Sandpoint, ID and Amanda and her husband Eddy Simmons of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandsons Nathan Hunter Blackwell Simmons (24) of Austin, TX; Josiah Ernest Simmons (22), of Asheville, NC; Seth Isaac Simmons (19), of Lynchburg, VA; Micah Joel Simmons (15) of Charlotte, NC; and Miles Everett Luce (13), of Sandpoint ID.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years R. Hunter "Blackie" Blackwell III.
