He attended Seneca High School and University of Louisville on a tennis scholarship. He graduated with a Psychology Degree from the University of Kentucky and received his MBA degree from Pace University. At the University of Kentucky, Bill met the love of his life, Linda Smith. They married in 1967 and raised a son, Kevin and daughter, Lisa. Bill had a very successful and rewarding career with AT&T. Playing tennis or golf with friends, scuba diving, volunteering for the Assistance League of San Antonio or traveling with Linda were the activities he enjoyed. Yet, the most endearing activities and closest to his heart was spending time with his son Kevin, daughter Lisa and his four grandchildren. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, George and Vera Hays and sister, Judith. Survivors include wife, Linda Hays; son, Kevin (Angie) Hays; daughter, Lisa (Jay) Homburger and four grandchildren, Lucy and Annabelle Hays and Hayden and Hudson Homburger. In 2013, on an a transatlantic cruise, we met the most wonderful couple, Bill and Linda. It was an instant friendship that followed us back to San Antonio and forever became part of our lives. So many dinners, Las Vegas and more cruises. Bill had a wonderful smile, so positive on life and his devotion to Linda. We will miss him very much.

Mr. Hays was a very kind and generous man and I've really admired his relationship with his children (whom I attended KU with many years ago now). My thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to your family.

"O' Lord, support us all the day long, until the shadows lengthen and the evening comes, and the busy world is hushed, and the fever of life is over, and our work is done. Then, in thy mercy grant us a safe lodging, and a holy rest, and peace at last." Old English prayer for my beautiful friend whose memory I will treasure forever.

I went to elementary school as well as middle and high school with Bill. He lived down the street from me on Gardiner Lane while we were in elementary school. I saw him at our 45th reunion. Bill was a really nice guy and I am so sorry for your loss.
