Gregory and Alexandra Bruehler died of injuries sustained in a tragic bicycle/motor vehicle accident on October 1, 2009. They were both avid outdoor and nature enthusiasts. Their love and nurturing qualities were demonstrated while working together as trainers and care providers at Sea World facilities in San Diego, Orlando, and San Antonio. Most recently, they were involved with various local animal care organizations. Gregory Loren Bruehler was born in Hurst, Texas on May 2, 1967. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary (nee) Fuller. He is survived by daughter, Kylie Bruehler; father and wife, Gary and Carol Bruehler; sister Lori Line; niece Morgan Hoffman; nephew Austin Hoffman, and loving aunts and cousins. Gregory graduated from Marshall High School, the University of Florida with a degree in Zoology/Marine Biology, and received his graduate degree in Toxicology from the University of San Diego. One of his most noted work accomplishments was related to his supervision and interaction in the rescue of a baby Mexican Grey whale beached near San Diego. This recovery and eventual release back into San Diego Bay some years later was documented by the National Geographic Society. A special "JJ the Whale" documentary was aired on national television. Alexandra Bruehler was born in Glendale, California on April 24, 1973. She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Telleson. She is survived by daughter, Kylie Bruehler; father Forrest Telleson. Alex graduated from Moore Park College with a degree in Animal Management and Training. Alexandra was seriously injured in a motor vehicle accident just two years ago. She suffered numerous broken bones and a broken back, which put her mobility in doubt. Her love of an active life was miraculously demonstrated by her intense and aggressive recovery regimens, which led to one of her dreams coming true----- she qualified and participated in the 2009 New York Marathon. At the time of her untimely death, she and Greg were continuing her recovery process with their bike riding.
