Hellen Mayree (Ross) Branum age 88, born April 30, 1924 in Warren, Arkansas, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Marlin High School in 1941,was an exchange student University of Puebla, Puebla Pue, Mexico in 1943; received a B.A. in English from Sam Houston State Teachers College, Huntsville, Texas in 1945 and taught in the Tomball ISD from 1944-1945. She moved to San Antonio and on December 14 1946, married Cotton M Branum and lived in Morocco and Casablanca during his WWII military service. Upon their return she taught and was librarian in the San Antonio ISD from 1953-1982. Hellen earned her Master's in Education from Trinity University and Our Lady of the Lake University in 1975. Active in community service, in 1979, Hellen founded the Mahnche Park Neighborhood Association, viable still today. Survivors: nephew Robert E. O'Connell, wife Barbara of Tucson, Arizona; cousin Celeste Denson, husband Hubert and dedicated caregivers, Jo Ann and Armondo Rodriguez, San Antonio, TX. To the many students, faculty, friends and all whose lives she touched, Celebrate her life as you remember Hellen.
