Obituary Condolences

Irma Maria de los Angeles Martinez Sandoval has entered eternal rest at 88 years of age in San Antonio, Texas on December 28, 2012. Resident of San Antonio for most of her life, Irma grew up in Laredo, Texas and was born in Lampasos, Nuevo León, México on October 6, 1924. Irma is preceded in death by; parents Teresa Ramirez de Martinez (mother) & Manuel Martinez (father), and brothers Mario Martinez and Alfonso Martinez. Irma is survived by; Alberto A. Sandoval (husband), Cordelia Sandoval (daughter), Albert E. Sandoval (son), Tina Sandoval (daughter-in-law), three grandchildren - Enrique Luis, Monique Rose and Jenique Marie, three great-grandchildren - Emily Christine, Carolina Natalia and Lucia Irma. Also, Maria Carmela Connelly (Sister), and numerous nieces and nephews. Irma worked for Joske's Department store for 27 years where she was an outstanding Elizabeth Arden beauty consultant until her retirement when the store was reopened as Dillard's River Center. Irma was devoted to her faith and was a member of St. Henry's Infant Jesus Society. Throughout her life, Irma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, godmother, & friend. Throughout her career, she mentored many a young lady & helped them realize their dreams. Irma loved to sing & enjoyed listening to a variety of music. She also had a passion for growing roses. In 1992, Irma decided it was time to become an American citizen so that she could vote for Bill Clinton. She kept herself well informed about local & national politics and encouraged others to become citizens. Services: Rosary, Monday January 7, 2013; 7:00 p.m. at The Angelus Funeral Home, 1119 N. St. Mary's Street. Holy Mass, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Mission San Jose, 6701 San Jose Dr. San Antonio, Texas at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. The Sandoval family would like to thank the following for their excellent care of Irma (Angela): Andrea Gonzalez, Rosa Valencia, Irma Martinez and Naomi Chavez.
