John Clarence Hamel passed away Saturday, June 22, 2013, at the age of 78. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sherryl Hamel. Sister Mary Evelyn Lutton and husband Robert Lutton. Sons: Michael Hamel, Warren Hamel, Alan Hamel, Timothy Butterworth, Daughters: Sherry Alexander, Debbie Harder, Wendy Asbury and Carrie Butterworth. Several nieces and nephews 19 grandchildren, and 18 great grandchildren and many friends.
Clarence is a native of San Antonio. After graduating from high school, Clarence went to Warren Hunter Art Studio, after serving time in the Army, Clarence went to work for the San Antonio Light for 26 years, as a graphic artist; as well as a security guard for Downtown Baptist several years. Clarence was a very good artist enjoyed painting animals and wildlife. Very much a pet lover and an avid Dallas Cowboys and Spurs fan.

Graveside services at Fort Sam with military honors scheduled for Friday July 5, 2013 at 2:00pm, Family gathering to follow at VFW post 8315 in Schertz on FM 78.
