Joseph Bippert Obituary
Joseph Harold Bippert was born on November 19, 1913 and passed away on February 27, 2013 at the age of 99. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Martha Mechler Bippert. He was the fourth of twelve children of Max Henry and Marie Elizabeth Franger Bippert. His siblings who preceded him in death were Wilfred, Helen Croft, Aline Haby, Leonard, Reinhart, Leroy, Baby sister Marie, and Ivan; Brother-In-Laws Jess Cockrell, Lloyd Croft, Clinis Haby, and Henry Tschirhart; Sister-In-Laws Virginia, Cecelia, and Betty; Daughter-In-Law Carolyn and Great-Granddaughter Kelli Lynn. He is survived by Alvin (Lorayne), Eloise (Melvin), Billy and Sister-In-Law Lucille Bippert. He is also survived by sons, David J. Bippert and wife Nancy Jo, John Henry Bippert and wife Nancy, and Dennis H. Bippert and wife Doris, 11 Grandchildren, 30 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He attended the LaCoste Public School, then worked on the family's dairy farm. He married Martha Mechler on July 29, 1937. He and Martha farmed and milked cows for several years until he started working for the Texas Highway Department maintenance crew in Hondo, Texas. He retired after 25 plus years, then was hired and worked for the Precinct 2 road crew for another 10 years before his final retirement. They traveled a lot, going on many bus trips and on a couple of cruises in the Caribbean with his sisters. He was a member of the St Louis Catholic Church, St Louis Society, and the Hermann Sons Lodge in Castroville. He loved having his children and grandchildren around, loved to hunt, really enjoyed the family Christmas parties, and enjoyed many pitch games with his friends. His favorite times were the family camping trips every summer on the Frio river. The family would like to thank all those who cared for him during the past few years. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials may be given to the . The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will be open for Visitation on Sunday, Mar. 3, 2013 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Rosary will be recited Sunday, Mar. 3, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated Monday, Mar. 4, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church. Entombment will follow the Mass at St. Louis Catholic Garden Mausoleum in Castroville, TX.
