ASHBURN
Louise G. (Siconolfi) Ashburn passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31, 2012 at the age of 92. She was born in Rochester, New York on November 12, 1919 to the late Pasquale and Concetta (Manes) Siconolfi. She was raised in Rochester with her seven brothers and sisters and left to join the Army as a registered nurse. While in service in San Antonio, she met and married her great love, fellow soldier Vic Ashburn. Louise was a Founding Member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She volunteered innumerable hours in multiple parish organizations, as well as in her Sorority, Epsilon Sigma Alpha (Kappa Kappa), and the . Louise was particularly devoted to St. Jude's Children Hospital and to crocheting (over 1,000) hats for the SAMM shelter. Louise proudly served during World War II and retired as a Civil Service ICU Nurse, having worked in the Burn Unit and the Open Heart Surgery Unit at Brooke Army Medical Center. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Alfred V. Ashburn. Louise is survived by her sister Lucille Cali and brothers Nicolas and Samuel Siconolfi of Rochester and brother Michael Siconolfi of Montgomery, AL; by her son, Michael V. Ashburn and wife, Tommie and her daughter, Judy O'Connor and husband, Terry; by grandchildren, Mark O'Connor, Susan O'Connor, Randi Wiley and husband, Mark, and Staci Ashburn; and by great-grandson, Gus Wiley, and honorary grandchildren, Ninon and Kyra Zander. She was dearly loved and her memory will be cherished by her family, Sorority sisters, and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, September 9, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.at Porter Loring on McCullough Ave.
