Loyce Boarnet Obituary

BOARNET
Loyce Boarnet, our beloved "Meme", passed away on April 10, having enjoyed a loving and fulfilling ninety-six years. Loyce, born in New Orleans and raised in Houston, moved to New Braunfels in January, 1947, with her husband the late Irvin Boarnet and her children. She has been an active member of the New Braunfels community and has made her home in New Braunfels for almost seventy years.

Loyce and Irvin moved to New Braunfels when they purchased the Cater Frock Co. She was the lead designer for their line of children's dresses until the company was sold in 1969. Since then she has had a full and active life, forming the Sophie's Sewers, restoring clothing for the Sophienburg Museum. She worked at Sami's Jewelry and was a docent at Temple Beth El in San Antonio.

Loyce was pre-deceased by her husband, Irvin Boarnet, and by her sister, Nina Kamin. She is survived by her son, Bernerd Boarnet and his wife, Esther Boarnet and her daughter, Luann Cohen, and her husband, Dr. Lawrence Cohen. She is survived as well by her grandchildren, Dr. Marlon and Barbara Boarnet, Jody and Jack Fries, Jerry Cohen, Tobe and Cathleen Cohen, Trent Boarnet and Mark Ingram, and Darren and Nicole Boarnet, as well as her twelve great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements include visitation Thursday, 5:00 pm to 7:pm at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, a funeral service on Friday, 1:30 pm at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels, and a graveside service on Friday, 3:30 pm at Temple Beth El Cemetery, 1715 Austin Highway, San Antonio.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Stella Aguirre, to the staff at Oak Tree Assisted Living Center, to the nursing staff at Christus Santa Rosa - New Braunfels, and to Hope Hospice for their loving care and assistance. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your
choice.
