Lupe C Gonzales age 85 surrounded by her family went to see her Lord in heaven on July 7, 2013. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister aunt, and friend. Our mom loved being surrounded by her family. She was best known for making her New Years meal which consisted of Pork Roast, black eyes beans, creamed potatoes, and mustard greens. She lived all her life in the Eastside of San Antonio and would often say, "Who would have thought that a girl from the eastside would have traveled all over Europe". Our mom visited, England, Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, Holland, Belgium, and traveled throughout the United States. Lupe loved her companionship with all her friends at the District 5 Senior Nutrition Center. She enjoyed the various trips that the Center took her to and when she could no longer drive they would come pick her up. Our mother, Grandma Lupe, as her grandchildren called her, will be truly missed; however, we were so blessed to have this strong, hand-working woman instill the importance of hard work, faith and God into our lives. She is preceded in death by her parent Raymond and Feliciana Castellano, sisters; Jovita Castillo, Henrietta Rodriguez and Eugenia Castellanos, and grandson Christopher Tovar. Survivors include her daughters; Christine Tovar (Patrick), Vivian Gladson (Danny), Mary Esther Jaeschke (Alfred) and Cindy Gonzales and her sons; Alfred Gonzales Jr. (Olga) and Rodolfo Gonzales (Leticia) and a very dear and special friend Juan Espinoza. She will also be missed by her sister; Josie Guajardo, brothers; Gilbert Castellanos (Nancy), Raymond Castellanos (Josie) and Joe Castellanos, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchild. The family would like to extend gratitude to the staff of CIMA Hospice and especially to Belinda Tovar who cared for our mom throughout her illness. Visitation for Lupe will be at Mission Park Funeral Chapel South, Friday, July 12, 2013 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. The Funeral Service will be celebrated 10:00 A.M., Saturday, July 13, 2013 also at the Funeral Home. The interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South.
