Moses Johnson Obituary
January 20, 1925 - January 1, 2017 Moses Johnson was born January 20th, 1925 in Elaine, Arkansas an only child and is preceded in death by his parents, Sarah and Dan Johnson.

Moses was raised outside of Elaine on a farm where his parents were sharecroppers. His family later moved to Pine Bluff Arkansas, where he finished schooling and later joined the United States Army, where he excelled in ranks from private to Drill Sargent, training several men during his tour of duty. He was later honorably discharged and married. From this union, there were seven children born.

He then moved to San Antonio, Texas where he also relocated his parents. Moses began a career with the City Of San Antonio lasting nearly thirty years and coordinated numerous events and concerts for both the Municipal Auditorium and the Convention City Arena. Moses was affectionately referred to as "Big Mo" for his size and stature. During this time he met the love of his life, Hortense Hills, and they would later marry on April 22th, 1971. Moses and Hortense would began their over 50 year journey together and would have four children: Elvis M. Agent (Charles), Moses C. Johnson Jr. (Tanikka), Rodney A. Johnson (Ashley), and Sharon Johnson (Michael Terry), all of San Antonio ,Texas.

Moses leaves to cherish a lifetime of wonderful memories to his ten grandchildren, Ashley M. Thompson, Brittany J. Johnson, Rodney A. Johnson Jr., Mytia B. Terry, Myteanna N. Terry, Davontee D. Johnson, Alexander J. Johnson, Michael S. Terry III., and a set of twins, Mia S. and Mya L. Johnson. He is also survived by a cousin, Eddie Lynelle Johnson and family of Austin, Texas. A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends will also miss this beautiful, mild but strong man.

Services to be held on Wednesday January 11, 2017 at Gaston Bell Memorial Chapel inside Collins Funeral Home 6867 Montgomery Dr. San Antonio, TX 78239. Viewing 11 am-12 pm, Funeral 12 pm. Interment at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
