Rafael J. Aguayo-Allende was born on April 4, 1939 in Rincon, Puerto Rico and passed from this life on September 28, 2012 in San Antonio, Texas; he was 73. In his 22 years of service in the United States Air Force, he was a friend to many for whom he always had a story or joke to share. Though he spent many years away from his native Puerto Rico, he carried his love for his enchanted island deep within his heart. He enjoyed baseball and was an avid collector of romantic boleros in trio. But his greatest source of pride and happiness was his family. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Angela Aguayo-Noriega; daughters, Vilma R. Aguayo-Gaona (and her husband, David), Idelisa Aguayo-Noriega, Yolanda C. Aguayo-Noriega; grandson, Holden Aguayo-Pardo; sister, Maria Belen Aguayo; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his parents and maternal aunt, Victoriana Bonet, whom he loved as a mother. Rafael was a humble man of great integrity, intelligence and humor. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with a rosary recited at 7:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery from full Air Force Honors.
