Rose Mandel Obituary

MANDEL
Rose Elizabeth "Precious" Nathan Mandel passed away on Thursday, January 26, 2012 after a lengthy illness. She was born on September 11, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas. "Precious" prided herself on being a San Antonian through and through. She often commented that she had been weaned on Mexican food and continued that love throughout her life. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and attended the University of Texas. On March 9, 1947, she married the love of her life, Aaron Mandel, of blessed memory. She belonged to Temple Beth-El where she was an active member of the congregation and of the Sisterhood. "Precious" was a wonderful cook and baker, and she and Aaron loved to entertain family and friends by giving parties of all kinds. They shared a love of travel, politics and community service. "Precious" loved art and education and served as an assistant in art classes at Cambridge Elementary School. Throughout her illness, she remained upbeat and shared her smiles with those around her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel and Ben Nathan and her sister, Josephine Nathan. She is survived by her children, Rene Wender and her husband, Marty, Marcia Mandel, Ellen Mandel and Ben Mandel and his wife, Debbi; her grandchildren, Jeffry Wender and his wife, Jody, Loren Wender, David Wender and his wife, Jaime, Sam Woodcoff, Doug Woodcoff, Leah McCurry and her husband, Danny, Whitney Allen, Jeremy Mandel, Greg Mandel and Elizabeth Mandel, and her great grandchildren, Avery and Harrison Wender, Reese Wender and Aaron McCurry. We give our abundant thanks to Beulah Sutton, our angel, who shared her undying friendship, love and care. Her acts of love, kindness and devotion extended our mother's life for many, many years. We would also like to thank Bertha Garcia and Idella Sherrifee, for their loving care and companionship.
