CRABBE
Ruth Lucinda Swan Crabbe died in the Air Force Village I (AFVI) in San Antonio, Texas on April 15, 2010. She and her husband, Col. Gerald W. Crabbe had lived at AFV for twenty years. In the position of military attaché of the US embassy, they travelled widely and raised their family in many foreign countries including, Greece, Germany, Colombia and Costa Rica. Mrs. Crabbe was born in Konawa, Oklahoma on July 17, 1912. Her grandfather, Burwell Patrick Rudell, was an early settler before Oklahoma became a state. Her father, the former Frank P. Swan, was a leader in preparing the charter that established Konawa as a town. Mrs. Crabbe graduated from Konawa High School, Ward Belmont College and Oklahoma State University. Mrs. Crabbe belonged to the Air Force Wives' Association, the International Women's Club, various AFV associations and Pi Beta Phi. She was an avid bridge player and International Bridge Master. She is succeeded by her children, Carolin Crabbe of Washington, D.C., Cinda Crabbe Mackinnon of Orinda, California, Gerald Crabbe, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia, her sister Helen Swan Padberg of Little Rock, Arkansas and her grandchildren James and Robert Mackinnon.
