Salome Bernal Haddox (95 years of age) was surrounded by family as she was welcomed home into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, November 17, 2012. Viewing will be held at the Southside Funeral Home on Monday, November 26th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm. Funeral service on Tuesday, November 27th at 10:45 am at Southside Funeral Home with interment to follow at noon in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Salome (Sally) was preceded in death by her husband, Bill T. Haddox; parents, Clemente & Andrea Bernal; her brother Claudio & his wife Irene Bernal; Gilbert Carbajal; grandchildren, Mario Joachim, Elizabeth Ann, Grace Angel, Shawn & Paloma. She was loved and will be greatly missed by her survivors, Esperanza Carbajal, Adolph Gonzales, Albert Gonzales, Alice Gonzales Peña & Larry, Katherine Fernandez, Lydia Perez, Betty Ramirez, Cynthia Cevallos, Bill Haddox Jr., & Clyde Edward Haddox; numerous grandchildren, nieces & nephews: David, Anthony, Pamela & Shawn, Michelle, Monica, Melissa & Roger, Angelita, Francesca & Richard, Andrea & Armando, Sylvia & Dorian, Stephanie & Schreiner, Lawrence & Diana, Eric & Kellie, Chantrise & John, David & Jacqueline, Audrey & David, Conrad, Jr. & Carol, Jennifer & Sam, Leslie & Michael, and Eli. Great grandchildren Ryan, Christopher, Oscar, Alexa, Elizabeth, Charlie, Arik, Adam, Adrian, Austin, Brian, Brianna, Brenna, Sidney, Antonio, Gavin, Jasinda, Nathan, Dextra, Valo, Conrad III, Matthew, Kalysta, Jenelle, Samuel, Addison & Tristan.
Sally was a product of the Great Depression. She left school in the third grade to help support her family. She worked as a seamstress at Fort Sam Houston during WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. Her love and dedication to her friends, family (and wrestling) was known by all who knew her. She was a friend to all and a stranger to none.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Firemen and EMS Technicians for their response and to all the emergency room staff at Southwest General Hospital for their compassion and kindness during this difficult and trying experience.
