Shannon Rast Obituary

Shannon Rast, age 63, passed away May 3, 2008. She was born on July 6, 1944, in Ft. Knox, KY. She was a loving and loved daughter, wife, sister, aunt, parent, grandparent and friend. The days of all those with whom she came in contact, irrespectively of their stations in life, were brightened because of who she was. She was the anchor for family and friends and went above and beyond even for those who did not ask. She was endowed with exceptional energy, imagination, determination, organizational abilities, tenacity and willingness to address problems expediently. Shannon was able to endure hardship without complaint. Her spirit is unstoppable and will live on. She is survived by her loving husband of 27 years, Allan Rast; parents, Robert & Martha Jane McConnell; daughter, Debra Hurtado & her husband George; granddaughter, Kendall; step children, James Rast, David Rast & wife Leslie and Melanie Currier & husband Aaron; brother, Robert William McConnell; sister Cynthia Long; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Sunset Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be 12 noon, Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Unfortunately I understand the emotional pain that you are having right now. Your mother was a beautiful person and will always be remembered as such. Her beauty, both physical, emotional, and spiritual will continue on through you, Kendall, and your other family members. My prayers and thoughts are with you all though this very difficult time.
