WOOD-MAYO
TAMARA WOOD-MAYO, 42, of San Antonio, passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio on Wednesday, August 22, 2012, following a lengthy battle with breast cancer. She is reuniting in heaven with her mother and step-father Linda and Ron Barron, and her nephew Doyle Ray Wood III. Tamara was born on January 25th, 1970 and raised in Wichita Falls where she was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School in 1988. She then moved to San Antonio to attend UTSA where she earned her BSEd with Early Childhood specialization. Later she added a certification in English as a Second Language. Tamara was a dedicated educator and was employed by NEISD for 10 years in various roles, however, the majority of her career was spent teaching 3rd-5th grades at Thousand Oaks Elementary School. In 2011, she received the honor of being named "Teacher of the Year". When she was diagnosed with breast cancer five years ago, Tamara refused to give up. She maintained a brave and optimistic outlook throughout her illness. Through countless radiation and chemotherapy treatments, she continued to raise her three daughters and involve herself in every aspect of their daily lives. Her anchor and focus was centered on her Faith in God, her family, and numerous close friendships. Her incredible wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed. Tamara is survived by her daughter, Linda Claire Mayo and twin daughters Hattie Rose Mayo and Stella Parker Mayo; her father, Doyle Ray Wood and his wife Brenda of Wichita Falls; her brother Ray Wood and wife Kelli, of Wichita Falls and their two children Konner and Kenna; her brother Paul Barron, and wife Michelle, of Pasadena, Texas; her Aunt Judy Diltz and her husband Bobby; her Uncle Tommy Murphy, and his wife Sylvia. The least of her survivors is her faithful and loving Chihuahua, Lola. Tamara's life will be celebrated in a service on Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 1PM at Community Bible Church with Sean Metcalf officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, August 24, 2012 from 7-9PM at Sunset North Funeral Home.
Graveside services, under the direction of Hampton-Vaughn Crestview Funeral Home, will be held at 1PM, on Monday, August 27, 2012 at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, Texas.
