GROBE
Nathan A. Grobe of Cibolo, Texas passed away on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the age of eighty-three. Born in Marion, Texas on March 26, 1928 he was preceded in death by his wife, Winona Wieding Grobe and his son-in-law, Mark Tackett. Nathan is survived by his daughter Cindy Serene and husband Gene, daughter Kathy Tackett, daughter Marianna Braden and husband Danny, and son Nathan A. Grobe, Jr. and wife, Patricia; seven grandchildren, Michael Serene and wife Ashley, David Serene and wife, Jennifer, Daniel Braden, Jr., and wife Alyson, Sarah Jarzombek, Heather Grobe, Emily Grobe and Ryan Tackett and two great-grandsons, Nathan Jarzombek and Harold Hansmann. He is also survived by Reubin and Dorothy Wieding, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. Nathan was a member of the San Antonio Founder Lions Club and Emanuel's Lutheran Church in Seguin, Texas. He was employed at the San Antonio Express-News for many years and in many capacities within the Circulation Department. Upon his retirement in 1996, Nathan returned to the family farm in Cibolo where he spent a great deal of time tending to his cattle and driving his tractor. Nathan was a hardworking, humble man who enjoyed life. He spent many hours with his children and grandchildren showing them just how things needed to be done. He loved hunting, fishing, vacationing with his family, and attending his grandchildren's sports and band events. No one could have asked for a kinder or more giving daddy, dad, pawpaw, grampa, and great-pawpaw. He will be more than missed and a giant hole has been left in our hearts. His grateful family would like to thank Dr. Lisa Cabrera for her loving and constant care, the doctors and staff at Star Vascular for their expertise and specialized care, and finally, the staff at Fresenius Southeast Kidney Dialysis Center for their compassionate care throughout the past two years. Without these angels his journey through dialysis would not have been possible. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 10, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00pm at Schertz Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at Schertz Funeral Home on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Guadalupe Memorial Park in New Braunfels, Texas.
