Carlos P. Fernandez was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and amazing friend to many. He was born in San Antonio, Texas on September 6, 1948 and entered into rest at his home on February 7, 2014. In his life he bravely stood along side his brothers as a Vietnam Veteran. He was a proud hero of ours, courageous and self-sacrificing, bravely serving his community for the San Antonio Fire Dept. before retiring with 24 years of service. He is preceded in death by his loving father Pablo L. Fernandez. Carlos is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Maria R. Fernandez,daughter Ms. Rachel F. Jacobo, (granddaughters:Jaquelyn(Robert) Bolado, Lorraine,Gabrielle, and Isabella), son Carlos R.(Rachel) Fernandez, (grandchildren:Carlos Jr., Alyssa, and Sebastian),and daughter Ms. Rebecca A. Fernandez,(grandchildren: Dolores, Johnny, and Erik), his mother, Maria P. Fernandez, (brothers: Raymond Fernandez, Paul (Grace) Fernandez, Javier (Raquel) Fernandez), (sisters: Esther (Rex) Pollock, Stella (Art)Alvarez, Mary Helen (Hector) De La Torre, Rosa (Ray) Johns), numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.Visitation will begin on Friday, February 14th,2014 at 5 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7p.m. at Mission Park South. The funeral procession will depart at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 15th,2014 for a 9:30a.m. mass at St. James Catholic Church followed by interment at First Memorial Cemetery.
