Emory Oxford Obituary
Emory Coleman "Bud" Oxford passed away February 10, 2014, at the age of 83, following a heroic battle with myelodysplastic syndrome. Bud was a true American success story having served in the United States Air Force for 20 years rising in rank from Private to Major, retiring in 1967 after time as a flight engineer in Air Rescue, and as a pilot and aircraft commander of C-124 air transports. He married his beautiful bride of 58 years in 1955 with whom he raised three children, all of whom earned doctorate degrees. At the age of 39 he entered college, earning his degree and became a Certified Public Account in 1976, retiring only one year ago. He will be remembered for his love of family, unfailing dependability, great wit, intelligent mind, and positive attitude. Above all his favorite pastime was supporting his family at scouting events, soccer games, concerts, softball games and family celebrations. He enjoyed traveling, golf and a good card game with friends. Bud, here is to your next flight across the skies. You will always be in our hearts. Safe travels.

Bud is survived by his wife, Patricia Godfrey Oxford; three children, Tom, Teresa, and Diana, daughters-in-law, Elsa and Doreen and son-in-law David; and eight grandchildren, Brett, Ryan, Ciarra, Samantha, Coleman, Joshua, Isabel and Emma. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Lee Godfrey and his wife Sandy; sister, Sue Vaughn, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Catherine Oxford, two brothers and one sister.

His family would like to thank Dr. David Friedman for his care and compassion throughout this journey. We would also like to thank his nurse, Melissa, all the wonderful nurses in the Cancer Care Centers of South Texas infusion clinic, and the dedicated nurses on the oncology floor at Methodist Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make a donation to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - South Central Texas Chapter, 8700 Crownhill Blvd, Suite 803, San Antonio, Texas 78209; or to, Susan G, Komen - Houston Chapter, 5433 Westheimer Road, Suite 325, Houston, Texas 77056.

Following a private burial at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery the family invites you to join them at Vaughan's Funeral Home, 319 E. San Antonio St., Boerne, Texas 78006-2501 on Monday, February 17, 2014 from 1pm until 3pm for a celebration of Bud's life.
