WOOSLEY
Wanda Faye Woosley passed away February 15, in her home in Helotes, TX where she has lived for the last 30 years.

Mrs. Woosley was born February 18, 1921 to Stanford and Cleffie Fisher in Texarkana, Texas where she attended Texas High School, graduating in 1939. She was an avid swimmer and, for a time, a champion diver. In
December, 1941, shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor, she married her high school sweetheart, Homer Earl Woosley Jr. with whom her life would be entwined for most of the next 72 years. Homer left to serve as a nose gunner with the Army Air Corps for the 5th Bombardier Group in the Western Pacific until the end of the war in 1945, though this did not preclude the birth of their son, Stanford, in 1944. Homer
returned to go to medical school at the University of Arkansas, but while in Fayetteville, Wanda Faye and he were divorced in 1948. A short time later she married Gregory Dozier, also of Texarkana, a cattle rancher at the time. The two of them and Stanford subsequently lived in Texarkana, Little Rock, Houston, Angleton, and Ft. Worth as Gregory's employment changed. Following the death of Gregory in 1964, Wanda Faye remarried Homer in 1965 and remained his wife until his death in 2012. Homer was a medical doctor and, ultimately, a Colonel in the US Air Force, so the two of them saw much of the world together, living for a time in Washington DC (1965 - 69) and Wiesbaden, Germany
(1970 - 74), before moving permanently to San Antonio in 1974. They traveled extensively in Germany, Greece, Morocco, France, Turkey,
Hong Kong, Italy, and Spain. Both studied painting for a time in Germany and Wanda Faye became very skilled at depicting "still lifes" and nature scenes. She dearly loved her husband and son, the many dogs she and Homer had, mostly Doberman Pinschers, and drinking
wine. Those who knew her admired her sense of humor, love for family, and strength in the face of adversity.

Mrs. Woosley is survived by her son, Stanford Woosley and two grandchildren, Amanda Faye and William David, in Santa Cruz, California; by three step-daughters Linda Kay (Woosley) Krebs in Summerfield, NC; Edna Margaret (Woosley) Jacobs in Parker, CO; and Julia Anne (Woosley) Lee in Albuquerque; and by devoted caregivers Charles Galvan, Betsy Tejada, and Dora Sanchez.

She is preceded in death by her husband Homer. Graveside services with Deacon David Fowler officiating will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 8 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Texarkana, TX where she will be buried next to Homer and other relatives. Burial is under the direction of Texarkana Funeral Home, Texarkana, Texas.
