VANDER POORTEN
Agnes Ida Dauwe Vander Poorten, born October 9, 1921, died March 3, 2014 at the age of 92. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Vander Poorten, two sons, Michael and Louis Jr, her parents Alfons and Marie Dauwe, sister, Jeanne Persyn and husband Oscar, sister-in-law Alice Persyn and husband Dan, brothers-in-law Henry Verstuyft and Sam Barbatto. Aggie and her husband were proprietors of Tip's Place. She was a longtime member of St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, emeritus member of the Belgian-American Club of Texas and an avid bowler of 55 years. She is survived by two daughters Kathie Talley, Mary Lou McGuffie and husband Rick, son Paul Vander Poorten and wife Charlene; two sisters, Juliana Verstuyft and Aline Barbatto, grandchildren, Michael Walker, Michelle Pena and husband David, Rob and Kevin Talley, Kim Williams, PJ and Ryan Vander Poorten, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, a special niece who was like a daughter to her, Margaret Cadena and husband Gil. Visitation will begin Thursday evening at 6:00 P.M. at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Mass will be offered Friday at 12:00 P.M. at St. John Berchmans Catholic Church. Interment will follow at San Fernando Archdiocesan Cemetery No.2. Pallbearers will be: Michael Walker, Rob and Kevin Talley, PJ and Ryan Vander Poorten, David Pena. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. John Berchmans Catholic Church, 1147 Cupples Rd., San Antonio, Texas 78226.
