Obituary Condolences

Peter "Pedro" Zamarripa, age 90, a lifelong resident of San Antonio, passed away Friday, March 21 with his wife of 70 years and loving children at his side. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. Pete was born February 25, 1924 and married his high school sweetheart, Annie, in 1943. He attended Central Catholic High School (c/o 1942) and was selected as an all-state basketball player (1941-1942). Pete was a retired letter carrier from the US Postal Service. Pete was a union steward for the US Postal Service, a member of St. Paul's Men's Club, and president of the Northwest Catholic Athletic Association (NCAA) for 10 years where he contributed to a program that provided facilities for 125 teams and 2,800 boys and girls in baseball and softball for the Catholic Youths Organization (CYO). He was passionate about helping the youth and made many fond memories with everyone that was part of the NCAA family. He played softball for the Spanish American League for 20 years. Pete enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at home were there were always laughter, good times, and Miller Lite. He was an avid sports fan and history fanatic. He will be remembered for his devotion and love that he provided for his family. He is was preceded in death by his parents Mauricio and Angelita Zamarripa, brothers Hildegardo "Lalo" and Mauricio "Goo" Zamarripa, children Yoli Z. Campos and Petey Zamarripa. He is survived by his devoted wife Annie, his daughters Teresa Leos, of Amarillo, (Howard; deceased), and Patti Campbell, his brother Frank "Kiki" Zamarripa, his sister Maria de los Angeles "Chelo" Zamarripa, sister in law Aurora "Judy" McCoy, his 7 grandchildren Howard R. Leos, Jr. (Lisa), Hilary Boley (Lee), Harriet Alvarado (Jimmie), Heidi Deal (Johnny), Leonard Leos (Yvonne), Jeannee' Campbell and Andrew Campbell, his 9 great grandchildren, his 5 great-great grandchildren, and his many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donation can be made in Pete's name to the Carlos Enrico '72 Central Catholic Scholarship or Hope for the Future to assist with Catholic education. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ricardo Garza, Dr. Joseph Heny, and Dr. Mitchell Curry. The family will receive family and friends Wednesday, March 26th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 p.m. at Porter Loring (1101 McCullough Ave.)
