Rozell Evans, 85, of San Antonio, TX. passed away March 29, 2014. He was born in El Dorado, Kansas to the late Sam and Arva Eddins Evans. He was with the U.S. Army during the Berlin Airlift. He retired from Kelly Air Force Base as an air conditioning-refrigeration mechanic after 29 years of service. His favorite past time was to repair anything that needed to be fixed and enjoying Spurs basketball. R.S. loved his church family at Calvary Hills Baptist Church. Prior to moving to San Antonio, he was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Pleasanton, TX. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. R.S. is survived by his wife of 41 years, Janice Carmack Evans; sons, William (Donna) Surber, Martin (Martie) Surber, Michael (Teresa) Carmack, Brian (Lisa) Carmack and Dr. Patrick (Lisa) Carmack; daughters, Leah Good and Sherry Bermea; grandchildren, Justin (Haley) Blankenship, Evan Surber, Lexi Surber, Brandon Frazier, Krystalyn Frazier, Anna Lewis, Whitney (Matt) Babel, Gerald (Pamela) Hershman, Dr. John (Karrie) Hershman, Jonathan Carmack, Meagan Carmack and Abigail Carmack; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mayjorie Evans and O.B. (Evelyn) Evans; R.S. was preceded in death by his grandson, Christopher Carmack; sons-in-law, Johnny Good and Gerald Hershman Sr.; siblings, Robert Lewis (Betty) Evans, Leo (Betty) Evans, Naomi Evans and 2 infants, Irving and Ora Evans. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, April 3, 2014 at The Calvary Hills Baptist Church, 910 W. Loop 1604 North, with Rev, Randy Houston officiating.
