JOHNSTON
SGM Donald Lee Johnston, US Army, Retired, went to join his beloved wife Dee on April 9, 2014. Born October 26, 1927 in Hibbing, MN, he honorably served our country in the US Army for 30 years. After his retirement, Don was very active with the VFW Post 2059 in Kirby serving in various positions until his death. As coach and administrator at FSH Youth Bowling he impacted many young lives for over 35 years. Don enjoyed his family, bingo, traveling, and his great passion was playing pinochle with his 'cards' family. Beloved father, he is survived by his children Donna (Greg), Debra (Jeff), Denise (Bill), Dean (Sam), and Vicki (Spike); 22 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, brother Neil (Gladys), sister-in-law Fran, brother-in-law Don, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and comrades. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Visitation will take place at Sunset Funeral Home Thursday April 17, 2014 from 5 to 8pm. Funeral services will be Friday April 18, 2014 at 11:30am in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with committal to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
