Alta Fiorenza Obituary
Alta "Jorene" (Evans) Fiorenza, age 85, of San Antonio, formerly of Natalia, went to be with our Lord on April 26th, 2014. Jorene was born on February 11, 1929 in McLean, TX to Isaac Earl Evans and Stella Fay Langford Evans. Jorene was affectionately known by all who loved her as Mommy Jo. She is survived by her son, Randy Fiorenza and wife, Marianne; daughter, Valinda Houston; granddaughter, Sarah Fiorenza; grandson, Evan Houston; brothers, Billy Evans and wife Brenda; Kenny Kay and Tess Lueders; brother-in-law, Alton T. Little, sisters-in-law; Joyce (Fiorenza) Burgess and husband, Arthur; Ruby Evans, and Connie Fiorenza; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother and was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Albert William "Bill'' Fiorenza, who was the love of her life; parents, Earl Evans and Stella (Langford) Kay; sisters, Allene (Evans) Briggs and Clara Virginia "Ginger" (Evans) Little; and brothers, Pete Evans and Thomas C. Evans. Jorene was always very creative and enjoyed working with her hands to turn ordinary things into beautiful works of art. In her late teens, she moved to Dallas to work in her aunt's flower shop where she learned the art of floral design and met her future husband, Bill. Years later in the 70s, she and Bill opened Hearts & Flowers, a florist shop near Churchill High School in San Antonio. She had a natural talent for creating beautiful arrangements and was quite the perfectionist. She loved the holidays and brought joy to every occasion with her flair for decorating. She was happiest when spending time at home with her family, enjoying a Sunday spaghetti dinner and watching her favorite sports team, the San Antonio Spurs. She will be missed by all. The Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home will be open for gathering and visitation prior to the Funeral Service at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2014. Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home in Castroville. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Devine. Arrangements by Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home.
