Sr. Kathleen Mary Walsh, S.H.Sp. died peacefully at Holy Spirit Convent on May 31, 2014. She was born in County Limerick, Ireland, on November 6, 1922. She joined the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate in 1939 and came to the United States in November of that year. After receiving her B.A. and M.A. degrees in History and English, from St. Mary's University, in San Antonio, Sister Kathleen Mary taught in schools of the Congregation in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas. In 1980 she became a Religious Education Coordinator at Holy Family Parish in Natchez, MS. After she retired, Sister Kathleen Mary started working at The Catholic Worker House in San Antonio, where she volunteered until she "retired again" in recent years. In January 2014 she received The First Annual Sister Kathleen Mary Walsh, SHSp Award from the San Antonio Catholic Worker House Community. She is survived by two brothers: Edward Walsh and Brother Denis Walsh, CFC; two sisters: Sister Ann Walsh, CCVI and Sister Joan of Arc Walsh, CCVI and numerous relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and four of her brothers. The Rosary will be at Holy Spirit Convent Chapel, 300 Yucca Street at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, followed by interment in the Sisters' cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ministries of the Sisters of the Holy Spirit and Mary Immaculate. Arrangements by:
